I Timothy 1:15-17
15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
We are pulled in a lot of directions in December getting ready for the big day! Just think of all the plans you have this month. The list is long. Do you have a moment to consider the meaning of Christmas?
In this passage, Paul takes a moment to voice what he knows is true. “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” (v. 15 - Truth)
He recognizes Christ has shown him great mercy and immense patience. (v. 16 - Thankfulness)
He is excited to shout who God is - ”all honor and glory to God forever and ever.” - and what He has done for him. (v. 17 - Praise)
Paul describes himself as the “worse of all sinners.” What can we learn from Paul’s description?
Christ Jesus displayed immense patience with Paul. How has God displayed patience with you? How does that make you feel?
How can you follow Paul’s example and speak truth, share thanks and praise God?
