Notice Your Neighbors This Summer

Part of our calling as a church is to pour out God’s love on the world.

As we’ve said often, that includes showing the love of God to our literal neighbors – those God has placed in front of us, behind us, and on either side of us in our neighborhoods, dorms, and apartment buildings.

Summer is the perfect time to reach out! Between now and Labor Day, we encourage everyone in the Covenant family to have a neighbor over.

Whether it is one neighbor, a family, or the whole neighborhood, how could you extend hospitality to someone who lives next door?

Here are some ideas:

• Saturday morning pancakes or donuts from Mary Lou’s

• A meal: carryout or cookout

• Dessert: watermelon, homemade ice cream, an LCS apple pie, or something straight from the freezer section at Payless

• An evening of popcorn and a favorite TV show or movie

• A book discussion or summer reading group

• A dramatic production put on by your kids

• A decorate-your-bike parade or water balloon party for neighborhood kids

• Host a wedding or baby shower for a neighbor

• Ask a neighbor for advice on your lawn or a house project, or for help moving something to storage

Who will you invite? Have a neighbor over, and let your face shine on them with the love of God!
